I believe the required version of Perl for running SBS 7.5.x through to 7.6 is Perl v5.10.  

The installation.txt for both 7.5.6 and 7.6 states Perl 5.8.3 is required, and 5.8.8 is recommended.

These versions don't work, and I believe anything post 5.10 doesn't either.
