Bugzilla – Bug 17281
Support Slacker Premium Features
Last modified: 2016-04-21 14:56:30 UTC
The Slacker app does not support all features of the new Slacker Premium subscription. For instance, you cannot play albums or playlists, create playlists, and probably more (not sure about playing songs on demand or viewing lyrics). I'm on the free trial of premium but I would be much more inclined to subscribe if all the benefits were available on my Squeezeboxes. Here is a thread on Slacker forums with a comment from Slacker support saying it is something Logitech has to coordinate with Slacker. http://forums.slacker.com/slacker-premium-on-squeezebox-t9137.html#p39934
I would also like to see some of the Slacker Premium features come to the Squeezebox. Playing playlists (I can't honestly see creating them via the Squeezebox interface), albums, and whatnot (in addition to the existing Radio features) from Slacker would be a great addition! Please work with Slacker to make this happen!
I,too, would like to get full use of Slacker Premium. I enjoy Slacker as it is very much , but the extra features we are not able to receive would definitely add much more attraction to this music service.
Slacker hasnt updated their API for their CE Partners yet..
(In reply to comment #3) > Slacker hasnt updated their API for their CE Partners yet.. After talking with Slacker Support about this, they said that they would bring this to the attention of their Business Development team (who will likely add this to their developers' project schedule). I know that Squeezebox isn't the only CE device they support, so we'll hope that this comes sooner rather than later, and that support can be added once their API is updated.
Has there been any movement on this issue? I love the slim devices, it would be great to use all the services they support to the fullest. I see the last posting was June...it is August now.
I recently purchased the Logitech Squeezebox Touch primarily for Slacker Radio. I am a premium subscriber and have been for months. The premium features of Slacker are what make it so valuable to me and without these features available in the Logitech Squeezebox Touch, I feel my purchase is regrettable. Logitech, please add the premium Slacker services. I have no desire to switch from Slacker but without the premium services added to your device, I may decide to return your product.
*** Bug 17344 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. ***
I recently purchased Slacker Premium service. I discovered the Squeezebox Touch Slacker app does not support the advanced features. This is now Dec 2011 and this issue has been going on for months. I contacted Slacker support. They said to contact Logitech support as it is Logitech's app. Bottom line is we need this resolved. In the end it looks bad for Logitech so I hope they decide to move on this one and contact Slacker about the new API.
could some premium user explain to me what today's "Library" feature does on the Squeezebox?
The "Library" feature in its current form is not something used by Slacker in their web player or mobile apps anymore. It used to be for older "premium" accounts to be able to save songs that they liked for future on-demand listening. When they stopped providing a Premium level of service to rework it, they essentially did away with the Library feature. When they relaunched their premium level, now users can create playlists of songs they want to hear, with no ability to store them in a library. Playlists can currently be created through their web player and mobile apps (at least Android and iOS; I don't think their WinPhone app does it yet). Oddly enough, the Library features on the Squeezebox do function as they originally did through the Slacker web player when it had that feature, as long as you have a premium account. So while they did away with the Library feature through their own players, they still retain support for it. There have been users in Slacker's forums that have been asking for the Library functionality to be returned since they relaunched their premium level of service (it's easier to browse through your personal "library" than it is to constantly search for an artist you want to hear, right?). Whether or not they have any intention of doing that, I don't know.
Ironic that this bug is still "New" after 18 mos. Here's another vote to update this app to make all Slacker features available on the Squeezebox.
This has been implemented... a while ago. Hasn't it?
Would VERY much like to 320 kbps for Slacker streams on authorized accounts! All we need is for Logitech to make the changes on the Squeezeserver side.
