Description Jacob Weber 2011-04-16 18:28:02 UTC
I'm noticing an issue with Squeezebox Server's update notifications:

- I was using 7.5.3 on Mac OS X, with Growl installed.
- I got a Growl notification that there was an update available, and that I should launch the preferences pane to update.
- I launched the preferences pane, but there was nothing there about an update.
- I manually downloaded and installed 7.5.4.
- I continue to get periodic Growl notifications, telling me there's an update.

Then, I went to the web interface, under Settings > Advanced > Software Updates, and set it to "Don't check for software updates". But I'm still getting the Growl notifications.

Please check folder locations for the Cache in Settings/Information. If something still is pointing at some */SlimServer/* folder, then that's a problem. Best bet: shut down SBS, edit server.prefs to remove those folders, restart SBS. This will require a full rescan of your collection, but should get rid of these messages.

The underlying issue is that updating from SlimServer to a Squeezebox Server doesn't migrate the cache folder value. SlimServer was migrated to SqueezeCenter, SqueezeCenter is migrated to Squeezebox Server. But if you skipped SqueezeCenter (7.0?), then this can happen.

Yes, it's pointing to ~Library/Caches/SlimServer. I'll try your suggestion -- thanks.

I thought you were wcattey from this thread (but you're not?):

He reported exactly the same issue, and confirmed the solution/workaround.
