Description Joerg Schwieder 2011-04-01 08:36:07 UTC
When bitrate limiting is set for a player in SBS 7.5.x (probably also in 7.6) the server does not only re-encode higher bitrate files to the selected bitrate in mp3 but also lower bitrate files.

From the description in the web UI (which states that only transcoding to a lower bitrate should happen), that's wrong.

It also doesn't make sense since it consumes processing power and doesn't really improve audio quality but potentially makes it even worse.

It would also be good to not transcode music in other formats than mp3, e.g. AAC, that has a lower bitrate than the selected one.

Hello,

Same problem for me, as said here : http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=51929&page=304, it is a server issue...

Is this bug already corrected in new squeezebox server update ?

Thanks for any help !
