Bugzilla – Bug 169
Add resume capability
Last modified: 2004-09-11 01:49:40 UTC
It would be cool if the squeezebox would have an resume or autostart feature. What I mean is one of the following: - If I turn the power on the squeezebox on it should resume playing in the playlist activ on power off - Add a preference of a playlist which starts playing on power on With this I would be able to use the squeezebox as an alarm clock ;-)
That's a good suggestion. Note that Squeezebox already has an Alarm Clock feature under the Settings selection.
I know about the current alarm clock feature. But it is of no use for me because I don't want to set two alarm clocks (the one of the receiver and the one of Squeezebox). Therefor if the Squeezebox has an resume capability I can just plug the squeezebox to the switched power output of the receiver and only have to set one alarm clock, the one of the receiver.
There is a server client pref for autoPlay that is not int eh web settings. If you set autoPlay=1 the server should start playback when the server starts. 00:04:20:04:0c:0d-autoPlay = 1, should make player ID 00:04:20:04:0c:0d start playback when it starts up. You just have to edit the slimserver pref file.
I can't get the autoPlay=1 setting on the Squeezebox to work. If changed the slimserver.pref file and restartet the SlimServer service. But if I play someting on the Squeezebox and then either press the Power button or unplug the power connector, it won't start afterwards automaticaly playing. After pressing Play it starts playing. If I press the Power button it afterwards displays "Pausing", if I unplug the power connector it displays "Now playing" (but plays nothing).
It would be useful if the squeeze box, on power-on, resume playing (like an in car CD or turning on a radio) from when it was turned off. I have found that turning it on, slecting "now playing" and pushing play can be met by silence or a few moments of the song - although the display does show the correct song/position. If before turning the unit off, I PAUSE or STOP the playback, then turn back on, it will correctly resume. So this looks like a bit of a bug?
