Using the web UI, go to Settings, and then the Plugins tab.  Find the Extension Downloader in the long list of plugins, and on the right, click on its settings link.

I see a settings screen flash up for a split second (too short to actually read anything), then it goes back to the plugins page, where I just came from.

This is stopping me from adding a new URL for the extension downloader, and then installing a new extension.  Is there a fix?  Is there a workaround?

Although the version choices above wouldn't let me specify, I'm using Version 7.5.3 on Debian Squeeze AMD64.  (Just installed new version this morning, although it was also broken in 7.5.2 with the same behaviour.)

Note that settings for other plugins work just fine, e.g. Date and Time, BBC iPlayer.

Well, I worked around the broken Extension Downloader by unzipping my plugin straight into /usr/share/squeezeboxserver/Plugins.

So I've side-stepped this issue for now, but the Extension Downloader remains broken.
