Description Michael Herger 2010-12-22 01:01:50 UTC
When Radio runs low on battery, it displays a warning, and after a while shuts down by itself. IMHO the playback should stop a minute or so before it's being shut down. Otherwise the playback would just stop, without the user seeing the message, if he didn't monitor the device's display.

According to Vahid an interrupt is sent when the battery is running low. We might consider stopping playback right then, instead of only showing the warning. Might cost us a few minutes of playback on batteries, but UX imho would be improved.

It wouldn't be correct to stop playback immediately at the time of the warning, but in between the warning and shutdown I'm fine with. Do we know how much time approximately we have between the low battery warning and the shutdown?

Looking at some data from 2 units testing the battery charge and discharge. I have seen the "please charge me" warning status from 3 to 8 minutes. Casual observation I have seen it be less on some units (under a minute).

Once the Battery voltage gets to 10900 an interrupt is sent to iMX25. Once the
Battery voltage drops to 10400 the Baby is powered off.
The time it takes to go from 10900 to 10400 depends on the status of the
Battery.
