My mp3 collection is stored on my netgear ReadyNAS Duo but the squeezeserver runs on my computer (Windows 7). Music disk is mounted with a samba access.
Scanner is very very slow compare to a NFS access.

That's not a problem of the scanner, but of the SMB protocol.
