Description Blackketter Dean 2005-06-11 13:46:19 UTC
With the new scrolling code, it should be easier to make the RSS News Ticker do its scrolling to
complete a full cycle, rather than end abruptly after some time.

This could be tied with bug1054.
should be possible with Triode's ticker patch. I think he mentioned being able
to keep track of the length of the text used.
Comment 2 Blackketter Dean 2005-06-13 22:24:32 UTC
Triode: what do you think? Would this be hard to hook in?
Comment 3 Adrian Smith 2005-06-14 11:34:51 UTC
Yep - this is the idea of ticker scrolling mode: scroll on from the right, off
the left never to be seen again. With a feedback mechanism to know when all
text is displayed so it is possible to queue up new stuff at the right time.

Watch this space - I hope to post an updated patch with graphics and text
support for the ticker later today. I will include a simplistic mod for
RssNews, but this needs more work - possibly from Dave once he understands my
ticker mode [as I haven't spent enough time understanding RSS at present..]

triode: any progress?
Comment 5 Adrian Smith 2005-06-19 14:42:04 UTC
See patch on dev list - assuming I get some positive feedback and no major
issues are found, are you OK for me to commit this? [as its a rewrite/move of
most of the display code, though I better ask!]

possible fix committed at change 3463
