Full functionality of WiMP service not available through app

The WiMP app lacks the ability to manage favorites, thus making it a limited application. This needs to be messaged to customers somehow so they don't think they are getting a full featured WiMP service when they buy a Squeezebox device.
We've implemented what we were asked to implement. From a mail exchange with Aspiro/WiMP: > The functions we are looking to offer (depending on feasability) are: > * Login with WiMP username/password (at mysqueezebox.com) > * Search for artist, album, track > * My Favourites > 1. Recommended playlists But imho it's definitely something we should look into for a v2 release.
Yes, I understand that the app is doing exactly what Aspiro wants it to do. But we have an obligation to the customer who we think will be buying our device based on the fact that they can use their WiMP service to let them know exactly what they're getting. Telling them up front what will and will not work with the Squeeze devices could mitigate customer support calls or returns, or both. This just needs to be messaged somewhere, I don't know if that place is on our website, on the WiMP website, or someplace else. I filed this defect not saying that the app is defective, but that there is a defect in what the customer is getting when compared to what they may perceive they are getting.
Kris - that's fair enough. Remco - could you please check with Aspiro/WiMP what we should or they're going to do?
I've talked to WiMP and they informed me that this function will be included in the next update of their API, but isnt available until then. Since this function is not available any device that supports wimp, users won't expect to find it on the Squeezebox either. WiMP has no problem with this. We could inform our users about it. I would however do this in a FAQ and/or through customer service to not confuse users.

Good stuff, thanks Remco (or whoever put it up there). I assume this description will be available to users who are not logged into mysqueezebox.com? If so, then I think we're covered on this one. If not, will this description reside somewhere on the WiMP site? I just want to make sure it is accessible to anyone who is considering buying a squeezebox device to use with their WiMP account.
Hi Kris This text was written on Remco's request, and we'll be happy to alter it should that be neccesary ! Also, we will have information on the WiMP.no / WiMP.dk sites, as well as the landing pages for the SB+WiMP campaigns.
