Bugzilla – Bug 16369
Server no longer works in OpenSUSE 11.3
Last modified: 2010-11-17 13:40:18 UTC
http://groups.google.com/group/alt.os.linux.suse/browse_thread/thread/bf0afba6530e04ca?hl=en This seems to be partially a lack of support for the latest perl, and using incorrect paths. I will be glad to help test any fixes, and even tried to build things. And, by the way, I used to always build SqueezeboxServer from the source, and it was very easy. It downloaded all the necessary things. You have changed things so this no longer happens, making it impossible for a mere mortal to do.
additional report of Perl issue using SuSE Linux release 11.3 perl 5.12.1 server refusing to start no further details currently
Check in the forum for the necessary fixes to get it to work. http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?p=571670#post571670
thanks - will try it...
L.S. After upgrading my opensuse 11.2. to 11.3 I also ran into this issue. The workaround in the forum does not function for me. Using the post described earlier in this bug report discussion and the extra information here for a 32 bit system: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showpost.php?p=577929&postcount=62 The following message is returned: Use of inherited AUTOLOAD for non-method YAML::Syck::DumpYAML() is deprecated at /usr/share/squeezeboxserver/CPAN/YAML/Syck.pm line 65. The following modules failed to load: YAML::Syck For your information, I made sure that all the Perl modules mentioned in the buildme.sh are installed using either yast, or cpan. This is using squeezeboxserver-7.5.2-0.1.31352.noarch.rpm Using squeezeboxserver-7.5.2-31352-noCPAN.tgz yields the same results. I voted this bug up for me. Reverting to opensuse 11.2 is no option. And since squeezebox is my primary music source, this is bad for me. Rgrds, Arjen
This problem also occurs in Fedora 14. Is this the proper method of opening bugs for this product now? I noticed this bug is still unassigned and this is a major issue which is not distribution specific. It was opened in July and now it is November.
Fedora 14 uses Perl 5.12.2 and most Linux distros will be on Perl 5.12 soon. Is there an easy way to just rebuild the perl modules or some how run Squeezebox Server using Perl 5.10?
