Log file with alarm ring at 8:30 am

Previous testing with this Radio was consistently successful and alarm would
ring.

However, this time with alarm set to ring at 8:30 am PDT, the alarm sounded and
quickly stopped after perhaps 5-10 seconds.

Radio with firmware r8837. Log enclosed.

Stream used for alarm sound is a Deezer Beatles station. :-)

Right after the alarm there's a message that says the power has been turned off, and by design the alarm turns off. Mickey, I take it the power button was not hit?

I submitted the bug because I think I did not press the Power button to off. However, I've been doing this so often lately I couldn't swear for sure that I reached over and absent mindedly press the Power button.

It would be great if you could assume that I did not press that button, but it would be easy to convince me that I did.

Please see if you can reproduce this exact behavior while having no interaction with the player at alarm time.

I recommend having the player in "off" mode well before the alarm. If indeed the player is turning itself off immediately after alarm, that points to a bug in jiveMain:setSoftPowerOff().

There was a very small change in that code on 15 June. It appears unrelated to this, so it would surprise me if it broke this, but it's worth investigating.

The “power button” discussion on this thread makes me think this problem is caused by another bug. Usually, I have to turn the device “on” twice (or “off” twice). If I turn it “on,” it works for about 3-4 seconds, and then turns itself off. Then I turn it on again and it stays on. Similar with turning it “off” – I turn it off, it comes back on after 3-4 seconds, I turn it off again, and it stays off. [Note “off” isn’t all the way off – just pushing the power button once, not shutting down.] This makes sense – if the alarm recognizes the power button as a “turn alarm off” button, then this alarm bug really seems to be a problem with the on/off function.

I'd say that this is almost certainly a dup of bug 16295. Marking it as such.
