Bugzilla – Bug 16335
New Music replaces new music with old music.
Last modified: 2010-07-02 14:34:30 UTC
The question relates to the "new Music" folder found under the "My Music" section. The expectation is that new music would be music that has been added to the library and recently scanned to the server. In reality this folder does this only partially in that any time an album is played for the existing music library that album will also appear in the music folder. Eventually these older albums start bumping the new music from the list thereby negating any usefulness of the this feature. I tested it in Halifax and we found the same behaviour.

'New Music' is 'music with the newest date stamp as scanned by the server'. Are you seeing something other than that? It's not based on scan date: it's based on the datestamp of the file. Modifying tags will in many cases change the datestamp of the file. Many taggers for this reason allow you to preserve the files datestamp. Browse Music Folder will add items it sees to the database as if it was done by the scanner. I'm not clear what the bug is...
