Description Derek Harris 2010-05-22 12:01:50 UTC
Although I have selected my USB DAC to output sound and have it working with iTunes, any music played through SqueezePlay is fed only to my iMacs internal speaker system. Shouldn't it follow the output set in System Preferences? I would like to sync the output to my USB DAC with the output to my two Squeezebox players.

I just ran into this annoying problem. How exactly is it "resolved"?
Comment 5 Derek Harris 2012-03-23 12:21:48 UTC
This problem has been left in limbo, it most certainly has not been resolved. However I get around it as a problem by not using SqueezePlay but instead using SqueezeSlave.

Once downloaded and run SqueezeSlave simply appears as a player in Logitech Media Server and its sound output obeys whatever preferences are set in System Preferences.

Squeezeslave is a work-around (I'm using it myself), but it is not a bug fix. Squeezeslave
has it's own issues - it can't handle hi-rez audio (44.1/16 only) and it is command-line
program.

Yes everything you say is true. I use SqueezeSlave only because I am not aware of anything else on offer. As I said the problem has not been "resolved". I have no idea what criteria was used to give it that Status.

Although SqueezeSlave is a common-line program once run, as you know a task taking seconds, everything is done via the Media Server so I don't see that as much of a problem. I have very little music of better than CD quality so restriction to 44/16 is not a problem for me yet.

If the SqueezePlay bug could be fixed I would of course be delighted.
