* Tom Healy shaped the electrons to say...

Actually, I just double checked & all 10 files are tagged 2.4. I guess my question should be: if a 2.4 tag
exists but no 1.x tag exists, does the slimserver have this trouble? I've got around 75 tracks that I've
recently added in this situation. They show up fine as 2.4 tags in iTunes, but they are blank in the
slimserver.

Tom - SlimServer can read all versions of ID3 tags, and prefers v2 to v1.

Could you open a bug on this, and attach one of your problem files to it?

Thanks.

Does the server only use ID3 V1.x tags? New music I've been adding does not show up. IE: I just
purchased 10 tracks from www.gillianwelch.com and they are all tagged with V2.2 ID3 tags only. These
songs show up in my iTunes smart playlist just fine, but when I look at that same playlist on the
slimserver, the files are blank lines. There are spaces for the files, but they are blank except for the
play & plus icons. I'm not seeing the option to write both version 1 & version 2 tags in iTunes 4.8 for
Mac. I'd rather not have to re-tag all these (and a lot more recent additions) in a separate tagger if I
can help it. Anyone got a clue on this?

IE: (The blank lines are on the server this way with icons for "play" and "add to playlist")

Dan,

Currious. I got six of messing with the parent process dying in linux (see mailing list) and tried out the
6.02 server on my Mac dual G5. All the tags appear just fine in the mac slim database. It only appears to
be a linux database that has issues (files are on a linux raid box which is mounted via samba to the G5
running iTunes. iTunes XML file is saved on the linux box directly via symlink on the G5.

Tom - can you give this a try with the latest 6.1 nightly?

Thanks.
Comment 4 Tom Healy 2005-07-07 05:47:42 UTC
No Change:

Your music library contains 1736 albums with 26017 songs by 2475 artists.

My iTunes library reports that as 26676 songs. If I run the OS X server, it reports it correctly.

Tom - any chance I could get an account on your Linux box to ssh in and debug?

Thanks.
Comment 6 Dan Sully 2005-07-19 13:54:48 UTC
Tom - I'll get a chance to look around on your machine post 6.1
Comment 7 Dan Sully 2005-08-11 00:06:57 UTC
Tom - have you had a chance to try out the 6.2 nightlies? There's been a lot of work which may have fixed
your issue.

If not - could you reopen the ssh tunnel?

Thanks.

I'm now running the 9-11-05 nightly. I think this may be fixed. Not 100% sure yet. I've noticed my file
counts are off though: iTunes says I have 27496 & slimserver says I have 27379. I'm still looking for the
missing files.

Dan, I've re-opened the ssh tunnel for you. If you need the directions (odd port) sent again, let me know.

Tom - I'm going to go ahead and close this bug for now.

Counts may be off from iTunes as we check slightly different things for determining what is audio - and if
you have any cue sheets, that may also be showing up.
