Description jc 2010-05-18 03:36:20 UTC
There are very obviously very serious problems with 7.5 and SB Radio as reported by many people. Specifically stopping while playing an Internet Radio stream and lack of current artwork have received a lot of attention. It is obviously very frustrating for the owners who are not getting the functionality that they used to get prior to the firmware “upgrade” and for Logitech staff who appear to be struggling to find the bug(s).

However these are not the only problems that I and others are having. The radio changes the state it is in, and what it displays on the screen by itself. It is therefore out of control as far as I am concerned.

1) when powered off it turns itself on again immediately. Even if unplugged it powers up as soon as it is plugged in. It dispalys the menu or "now playing" screen for 10 secs (my screensaver delay)
then the "stopped" screensaver.n.b. it does not start playing the radio station, it just sits there in the stopped state.

2) When turned off it will after a period of time (minutes to hours) revert to “stopped” mode, displaying the stopped screensaver for a while but then after another indeterminate period display the menu which it then does permanently, (even though I have various styles of clock defined as screensavers for all states with a 10 sec delay, to help we work out what the hell it is doing) . This is annoying as a use it as a clock by my bed. Whenever I wake up I just see the menu, so I cannot see the time without hitting the power button to turn it off again.

So just to be clear when I turn it off I see on the display the following
a) off screensaver for indeterminate period, usually less than 5 minutes
b) now playing screen for 10 seconds (my screensaver delay)
c) stopped screensaver for indeterminate period, minutes to hours
d) the menu

All of the above without the radio being touched

I am running 7.5.0 r8673 against mysqueezebox.com. It worked perfectly before
the automatic "upgrade" to 7.5.

Apart from the above I am of course experiencing the artwork and stopping while playing problems. My intuition tells me that all of these problems are related, and there appears to be a view that the problem is some kind of contention between the Radio and mysqueezebox, com, but how can that result in the Radio turning itself on as soon as it is plugged in?
