Bugzilla – Bug 16229
Permanent scanning, can't turn it off
Last modified: 2011-05-09 09:12:26 UTC
This may actually two bugs. #1 automatic rescanning through inotify doesn't seem to work correctly on my ubuntu server 8.04LTS setup. It rescans the library every 2 minutes. It does NOT find anything new, just tries the file detection every two minutes. #2 and this is the biggie: I tried to turn automatic scanning off using "Settings->Advanced->Performance->Automatic Rescan" and that's being ignored, I still have a rescan every two minutes. This is a killer, my server just keeps scanning for weeks now.
I can confirm item#2 on windows xp 7.6 r31167. I had to stop and restart SBS before the auto scanner stopped scanning.
Still a problem?
Not right now but I turned off automatic rescans. Will install a recent update Friday and try again.
Looks OK now.
(In reply to comment #4) > Looks OK now. Which? Is the inotify based rescanning now working for you? Or do you mean that disabling auto-rescan now works?
I'll check again but I believe it was both. Disabling auto-rescan has worked for a while now, the recent issues were that if I did _not_ disable it, a rescan occurred every two minutes which is no longer the case. I believe auto-update through inotify worked, too, when I last treid it last week.
Auto-rescan is now disabled by default.
This seems to be fixed, will review with team and close.
