This bug is also valid for the ip3k players.
(And the web-UI for users without a keyboard with the proper keys.)

As I'm Swedish I have examples regarding our additional chars å Å ä Ä ö Ö

Example I want to search for "Röyksop" or "Björk"

As neither the Touch or Controller or any ip3k player like boom has an ö or Ö in the scrollable alphabet you can try to use a character that looks similar.
This is usually how it is done in similar situations in other software.

You then search for Bjork or Royksop and hits nothing !?

Ok the web-UI

here you can use your keyboard and put in "ö" or "o" and you find it.

Let me just praise the decision to lot the server differentiate between

Björk and Bjork and Röyksop and Royksop

Now I've found some tag misspelling in some obscure compilation albums I haven't listend to for years thankyou.

But this leaves a problem there is many non English characters in the latin alphabet, and if you don't have the proper keys you have to copy paste the character from some "keyboard" function in your OS or similar, this is not exactly user friendly.

I do have an "ö" key so I find Björk just fine ;)
