Bugzilla – Bug 16152
Radio MP v. 4 Front Panel gets confused on battery power
Last modified: 2010-04-29 23:43:06 UTC
Filing bug per the conversation Mickey, Peter DeBrass, and Dan had about this issue. Issue is when running on battery power, a Radio (HW v. 4) with FW 7.4.2 (and up?) the Front Panel buttons will either get confused or stop working. Mickey replied to the email thread with the following explanation of the issue and workaround per QA: "The problem that seems to be happening is that the microcontroller that runs the front panel buttons and knobs gets confused. We're not sure why that happens, but we've seen this before. The solution is to: 1. Hold down the front panel Power button until the Radio shuts off (Goodbye screen is seen). 2. Turn on the Radio by pressing the Power button momentarily (Logitech logo is seen). This will power cycle the Radio and reprogram the microcontroller. You will not need to unplug the battery when you do this. This is the simplest way. Unplugging AC will not accomplish this."
I have received two Radio's back from customers complaining about this issue and when testing both units with a confirmed working battery, both units functioned without issue. One of the customers has already reported back that the received replacement Radio (although also HW4) still has the same issue. Currently, I suspect that this may be an issue with the battery and I am currently having it picked up for testing.
