Michael reported having difficulties with a USB flash drive and using it for storage of tracks or photos. Steven investigated, and it's probably a U3 device.

According to the wiki, it presents itself as a USB hub with a CD ROM drive and storage drive attached.

There are various vendors -- just search for "U3 smart drive".
