I have set up the Beta Audio Playback facility on my controller but when I plug headphones into the jack the sound still comes from the speaker rather than via the headphones.

Running Squeeze V7.1.5

This is a duplicate of bug #10073 (which hasn't been fixed for a very long time :( ).
Please vote on the other bug and close this bug.

As a workaround you can search the forum for the 'Headphone Switcher' applet. It provides a menu to manually switch audio output to the headphone jack.

I understand that some people would really like to see some work here but it is pretty much guaranteed that it is not going to happen.

Despite the presence of a headphone jack, and some discussion during the beta period of having audio available that way, it turns out that this has a heap of problems and these are simply not going to be fixed. It is one of those (rare) beta features that never made it to product release.

If it works sufficiently well for you then great. Otherwise I am afraid that you are out of luck.
