Description Jim McAtee 2010-04-02 17:08:52 UTC
(This is probably present in prior versions of the server, but I noticed it while testing 7.6.0).

IMO, when there's an SORT field such as ALBUMSORT present in the tagging it should be used verbatim and not modified by (stripped of) 'Articles to Ignore When Sorting'. That's kind of the whole idea behind setting explicit SORT fields.

A workaround is to clear all of the articles from the server settings, but that won't always produce the same results if some strings don't have explicit SORT fields.

We'll review this for votes and customer input regularly and see if there's call for it.

The workaround would seem to be for affected users to change their SORT tags to something equivalent but not containing skipped articles.

Affected users are encouraged to post their affected sort keys so that we can make sure that any fix doesn't introduce new problems.

Closing this. With the way that the option is phrased - "Articles to Ignore When Sorting" - you cannot NOT remove them. The simple workaround is to clear the articles in the settings.
