Bugzilla – Bug 15973
Napster playlist set as a favorite does not play back.
Last modified: 2011-05-19 04:14:57 UTC
Radio fw 8423 & 8661 touch 8672 Napster playlist as a favorite does not play back. Select Napster > Napster Playlists > select a playlist of your choice Press the + button , Save playlist as a favorite. Go to the home menu select favorites and attempt to play back the Napster favorite you just saved, you receive a message "Error : No items found in playlist".
Ryan theorizes that this is caused by a changing URL on the Napster side
This one is frustrating to me because Napster Playlists work fine when assigned to a PRESET button on the Radio. But they won't work when you assign to a Favorite. Could the fix be as easy as looking at what URL gets saved to the Preset and having the code to save to a Favorite create the same URL? I'm not aware of a way to get a peek at the URLs saved to a preset (they don't show up in the Mysb.com interface). Bug is also present in MP3Tunes locker. Probably would occur with Rhapsody as well?
I am having the same problem, whereas a friend of mine with the same firmware version is not, i.e. when I add a playlist from the Napster Playlists into my Favourites, and then try to play it from the Favourites section I receive an Error: No items found in playlist http://notnat/api/napster/v1/opml/menu?menu=playlist.....
If it's working for your friend, I'd be curious to see the URL that is saved to his Favorite. In my case, the Preset works on the Radio (which I can't get to). If there is something in the URL on the one that works for your friend that is different from our URL, there might be something that can be done as a workaround...(manually edit it)
By the way, here are the two URLs that I currently have saved in my favorites: http://www.mysqueezebox.com/api/napster/v1/opml/menu?menu=favorite%3Aplaylist%3A109865930&title=Trish1 http://www.mysqueezebox.com/api/mp3tunes/v1/opml/tracks?playlistId=NEWEST_TRACKS&playlistTitle=Newest%20tracks
Is this being worked on yet as it is really frustrating me now?
Neil, is it possible that you are using Squeezebox Server but your friend is using MySqueezebox.com? I have not investigated this bug, but there is another bug in Squeezebox Server that effectively prevents adding Napster tracks to Squeezebox Server playlists (bug 16188). Perhaps MySqueezebox.com's more limited use of a "scanner" allows it to handle this scenario even though SBS fails due to bug 16188?

He is now having the same problem, i.e. any Napster playlists, alubums, etc are not playable when added as Favourites
I finally got around to installing Squeezeserver on my machine and taking a look at the behavior on the Radio (and now SB3) with regard to presets vs. favorites on Mysb and SBS. I get consistent behavior on all combinations: Presets pointing to a Napster playlist work fine. Saving the same playlist to a Squeezebox Favorite does not work. I also took a look at the URL that gets stored to the Preset (in the server.prefs file) compared to the URL of the Favorite and they are identical. For some reason the way that a Preset plays a the same URL is different than the way a Favorite plays it. Also, this behavior is the same for MyMP3 and I bet it's the same on Rhapsody. I don't think it is related to 16188.
Has there been some changes lately (last couple of weeks) on the Mysqueezebox API that would affect this behavior? Things seem to be working somewhat as expected now. On the Controller when I go to a Favorite that is pointing to a Napster playlist (see the links in my previous post) I now see a sub-menu (with a '>' symbol) which I'm sure I didn't see before. I can now drill into the playlist and see the songs that are in that playlist. On the playlist I can now hit the play button and the playlist plays... I have a middle-buton-hold menu that pops up (Add to End, Play Next, etc.). The only thing that doesn't work properly is that it does not respect my Shuffle settings when I play the playlist - but I think that is another bug. I need to do some more experimenting (Ipeng, etc.) but just wondering what would have happened to make this start working...

There is no change on my Squeezebox. If I add Napster Playlists or Artists tracks, etc to my Favourites I am unable to play them from my Favourites. I'm finding this very frustrating now
As we're now running new Napster code I wanted to ask whether this issue is still valid?
I will test this tonight when I get home and let you know current behavior. Thanks.
Good that this is now being worked on. I may not see the benefit though as I am restricted to use v7.5.1, as any newer version is not supported on my QNAP 109 II. For me to get a newer version it would mean to keep swapping music sources from my NAS drive to MySqueezebox.com, which continually cause my firmware to keep updating (very frustrating) Shame that no attempt is being done to keep my version of QNAP NAS up to date with SSOTS latest version
This is fixed in 7.6 (or earlier)
