Description Sébastien Phélep 2010-03-20 09:38:29 UTC
Every few minutes, for no obvious reason, SBS scans parts of my music library (see attached server.log), which causes audio drop-outs and rebufferings (SBS process eating up all the CPU resources on the machine).

Also, this morning when I woke up, the Classic connected to the NV+ running embedded (r30374) was totally unresponsive to the IR remote, and its clock showed 8:53 when it was 9:12. I had to restart SBS to get control back.
Earlier this week, the Squeezebox "forgot" to wake me up for the same reason.

I've been running 7.5e on my ReadyNAS since january, and until the mid February release I had finished to live with for some time, I hadn't a single problem with the automatic rescan feature, it just worked nicely.

Not sure it's related to this, but I also noticed frequent drop-outs in audio when starting a new track, with the Touch being used as a server for other players.

Somebody else seems to have the same problem with 7.5e on its Windows machine (see URL).

I am "somebody else" ;-)

My setup:
Main: Duet -> Beresford Caiman -> Carver A-500x -> B&W 704
Office: Duet -> Technics SU-V50 -> Stax SR84 Pro
Server: Zotac IONITX-A, 4 GB, 1 TB WD EADS, Win7 w. 7.5e

I wonder if this could be related to occasional complaints that SbS isn't allowing ReadyNAS to go into its sleep mode.

Allthough it might be related, please notice that I am not running on ReadyNAS but Win7

Did a clean install of 7.6.0 - r31389 and the problem occured again

Music stopped playing and it returned some seconds after the updating scan finished.

The bug summary and server version need to be updated. Remove '7.5-embedded - ' from the summary and change the version in the report to 7.6.0.

Automatic scanning just plain doesn't work yet under Windows. It should be disabled under Settings > Advanced > Performance > Automatically detect changes.
Comment 7 Sébastien Phélep 2011-01-19 13:21:38 UTC
Updated server version to 7.6.0 and removed reference to 7.5-embedded from bug summary, as advised by Jim.

Please note I have since then junked my NV+ and offered my beta Touch to a friend of mine (so that it would be useful to somebody: I had to move from a big house to a small flat recently, and already had too many SB devices to deal with).

I'm afraid I won't be able to track this issue any more.

I have the same issue with continuous scanning and music dropping out. The scanner also cannot find the shortcut to my other hard drive that 7.5.5 and earlier versions found. I don't know if this is causing the rescans. It's weird because I can browse the music shortcuts on the other hard through "Music Folder" in the main menu, but the scanner cannot find the music there. After several attempts at clean installs of 7.6.0 I've had to revert to 7.5.5 until this or these issues are fixed
