Description Morgan 2005-05-20 12:17:49 UTC
Strange issue I am able to recreate on demand. I have a number of tracks in AAC
(no DRM) that I use FAAD2 to decode and playback. When I have two Squeezeboxes
synch'd, I run into an occasional issue where the two SB's get out of synch. I
can force this by using the pause buttons, then restarting (although this
sometimes happens all by itself - no pause command issued). I generally get a
hiccup in one of the players, followed by a short (<1 sec) out of synch
condition where despite repeated pausing, unpausing, they will stay out of
synch. I need to Stop the playback stream and start a new song to restart
proper synch.

Not sure if this is new to 6.1, never saw this earlier versions.

Conditions for test:

1 SB
1 SB2

AAC files (.M4A)

Slimserver 6.1 nightly

As always, thanks for supplying us all with this great software.

Additional note: I was able to get the same condition to happen using standard
MP3 playback. Harder to get to happen, but it is possible. Maybe this is a
general "sync" issue introduced by 6.1 or new firmware on SB2 (I upgraded to
version supporting SqueezeNetwork).

Vidur: any idea what's going on here?

Are you transcoding to MP3/FLAC or sending raw PCM over the network to both
players? If the latter, I wonder if you're just hitting bandwidth limitations on
your network (you are streaming wirelessly, right?).

I am running all six SB's/SB2's over 100 MB Wired Ethernet. Honestly I have not
run into this problem for the past few weeks while running the most recent
nightlies. Trying 6-24 right noe. If I can force it again I will report.

Morgan, please reopen with details if you see this again. Thanks.

This bug was marked resolved in Slimserver 6.1, which is several versions ago. If you're still seeing this bug, please re-open it. Thanks!
