Bugzilla – Bug 15879
FF/RW doesn't work unless...
Last modified: 2012-03-09 07:24:30 UTC
This issue is with natively supported formats, so its not an issue with non native formats. On a Jive, if you press and hold either the FF or RW button, it does bring up the time slider, but doesn't actually FF or RW. Once you do have the slider up, you can use the scroll wheel to perform the FF/RW. Once you do that on the same session, you can then even use the press and hold method with the buttons and perform FF/RW. I tested with MP3 and WAV and reproduced the bug.
Hi Julius, What version or server were you using to see this? Thanks!
(In reply to comment #1) > Hi Julius, > > What version or server were you using to see this? Thanks! Chris- I originally complained about this to support, and that's what got the ball rolling on the bug. My original complaint was about 7.42-whs; but I've had the same phenomenon going back to 7.33, standard version (not whs).
Chris, I also tested and repro'd the issue on 7.4.2 when I first filed the bug. My apologies for not specifing.
I've installed 7.5 with my Duet. FF/RW still don't work, unless the workaround mentioned here is used.
Ben, if there is anyone else that could work on this, I would be thrilled to assign it to them. :( I admit I am at a loss why more people aren't complaining about this bug, but I'm inclined to want to fix it in 7.5.1. We can of course talk about it in the bug meeting.
You have to: (a) press-hold the FFD/REW button to bring up the scanner, (b) release the button, (c) then use either the buttons or the scroll wheel to adjust the position. The ip3k Player-UI does not require stage (b). It was designed this way because of underlying restrictions in the UI input mechanisms. It is possible that changes that were made to the UI input mechanisms in 7.4 may have made (b) no longer necessary but I do not know. I did mention this to Tom when he was changing the input mechanism and either he did not get to looking at this issue or it was not possible to change it. So, in any case, it works this way by design, even if that design was influenced by undesirable technical restrictions.
