I wanted to revisit the issue of playing something else while your TinySC is scanning your USB drive. A lot of strange stuff happens while it's scanning, and it's not a great user experience.

Here's what I did while a scan was going on:

1. Playing a local track will stutter
2. Now Playing will have some track info disappear and reappear
3. Switching to Internet Radio stream started playing local radio station but small spinny appeared for a long time on KQED station on RadioTime menu.
4. Now Playing still showed local track even though KQED audio was heard.

I think until we can guarantee a reasonable user experience during scanning, we should disallow playing any stream until the scan is 100% done.

See attached photos.

Personally, I would not do this. I might be inclined to try to find some way to add a warning to the SbS status screen that the user ends up in when SbS has started (it does go there, doesn't it? - if not, then maybe it should) that the users *should* wait for scanning to complete before attempting to play music, but I would not prohibit it.

Also things should work fine while scanning, it might just be a bit slower due to blocking on heavy disk access. Things like you are reporting are bugs that should be fixed.

Mickey to file individual bugs for these four symptoms

This bug has been marked fixed in a released version of Squeezebox Server or the accompanying firmware or mysqueezebox.com release.
