Hello All,

I have some questions in regards to FAB4 and SD Cards and USB drives:

Pre-initial setup

1. Say a customer doesn't have a network, and just wants to play music from usb or sd card. From the initial setup (from the choose language screen), if you plug a USB or SD card in, it starts SB Server, and starts scanning music.. etc. Once it finishes, the customer then gets back to the initial choose language screen.

As you continue through set up, once they get to choose network type, what happens then?

I know the box does say a network is required. I know the workaround to get to the music and play. (go into the "?", then hold down the

Is this the way the customer HAS to do it if they do not have a network?

After initial setup

2. Say a customer is playing music from an SD card, and plugs in a USB drive. The FAB4 detects the USB, but the USB does not show up as a Library choice, however it does show up on the Home menu with the option to eject it.

	Is this intended?

Even after I eject the SD card, and try to switch to the USB drive, it still says I'm connected to the SD Card.

Is this intended? Is there a way to switch between SD Card and USB drive libraries?

(This happens with the USB drive being the initial device also, and the SD Card being the second device attached).

Thanks,

LaRon

Hello All,

An idea for customer without a network.

On the "Choose Network Type" screen, have the option of "No Network"

If using the "workaround", there is an option there to use No network, which then allows you to listen to music from the SD Card or USB drive without finishing the initial setup.

Moving this option to the "Choose Network type" screen I believe will give a better customer experience.

I do understand that we want Touches to be registered, and firmware updated, and the box does tell customer that a network and broadband are require, however this may resolve the use case where a customer does not have a network (like on a boat), and wants to play music from a USB Drive or SD Card on the Touch.

Thanks,

LaRon

As you said in your mail: you'll need an internet connection to set up your Touch, it's printed on the box. This is not a bug.

1) I think we agreed upon that an Internet connection is mandatory for initial setup (to register and to get the latest firmware). That is why there is no obvious path to circumvent setup. Touch can be used without network after setup.

2) I think the device (SD card / USB stick) you insert first is used to play music from, so to switch you would first eject one then attach the other.
