Bugzilla – Bug 15816
OGG Vorbis seek/pause issue with embedded cover art
Last modified: 2011-08-04 12:23:41 UTC
When playing an OGG Vorbis file with embedded cover art, an attempt to seek within the file or pause and resume playback causes "Not a Vorbis file" to display on the Controller. Playback must then be restarted from the beginning of the file/stream. The cover art is briefly displayed at the beginning of playback (only at the beginning of the file/stream) and then disappears again. Sample files containing embedded cover art are available from the Ubuntu UK podcast web site (http://podcast.ubuntu-uk.org/) and I usually stream their output via the Podcast Player using http://feeds.feedburner.com/UbuntuUkPodcastOgg-high?format=xml as the feed. Please let me know if you need any further information or I can collect any other diagnostics from my system. This bug has been present in all 7.4 releases and I am unsure whether it was also present in 7.3.
I have just re-tested this bug on 7.6.0 and it now fails to play the OGG Vorbis file completely. When the play button is pressed the message "Bad Vorbis header" with the title embedded in the file appended to it is displayed. No audio is output at all via the Receiver even though the progress bar correctly shows the length of the recording and counts through it.
Are you streaming the files? You won't be able to seek Vorbis files unless you download them first and then play them via SBS.
Yes, I have the Postcasts App installed and have entered the URL http://feeds.feedburner.com/UbuntuUkPodcastOgg-high?format=xml into my mysqueezebox.com account. It used to play them fine but pause/resume/skip would break. Since 7.6.0 they won't even play. Is this by design? What is the issue with streaming OGG Vorbis files? MP3 versions of the same feed stream fine.
