Bugzilla – Bug 15791
Controller frequent reboots at wakeup and also spontaneously
Last modified: 2010-03-19 06:39:59 UTC
My Controller frequently reboots when I cause the controller to wake up from sleep, but only sometimes. Typically about one out of three/four times. (To wake the controller, I typically tilt it to make its screen turn on and then immediately I press the center button, to make sure it does not just go back to sleep again in a few seconds. This allows ME to do useful things while waiting for the controller to come alive.) However, I have also seen the controller reboot completely spontaneously, while just lying on the table. I have only noticed such completely spontaneous reboots relatively few times, but it may just be because the controller is very quiet about its rebooting - it does not play any startup jingle or anything. If I dont happen to observe the actual reboot, it is still revealed by the controller having returned to the main menu, and having forgotten earlier "menu browsing history". This problem has begun after I have upgraded from SqueezeCenter 7.3.3 to Squeezebox Server 7.4.1. Changing to 7.4.2 did not help - if anything, it got worse. I had similar reboot problems back with SqueezeCenter v.7.3.1 and 7.3.2, but they were pretty much fixed in 7.3.3. As far as I remember, the reboot problems in 7.4.1 and 7.4.2 were caused by some interplay with certain WLAN routers (mine is NetGear WPN824, HW=V2H1, FW=V2.0.26_1.2.17) and with using "reserved IP addresses" as I do. But that particular problem was fixed in 7.3.3. ...Could that same bug have become "unfixed" again, when moving to 7.4.x?
There was no new SB Controller firmware in for 7.4.2 so I'd assume the behavior would be the same. But a fix is in and will be available for 7.5 the latest. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 14945 ***
