Bugzilla – Bug 1579
brief dropout in alarm sounds when they repeat themselves
Last modified: 2008-12-15 12:13:49 UTC
seems like almost every alarm sound repeats the same sample over and over, but in almost every one i've checked there's a very brief dropout when the repeat occurs
this can actually also make the sounds sound a little bizarre... like the Sub Alert sound in Alarm sound -> Misc, seems like something that should be at a very regular interval but every 2-3 times it makes noise it skips about 1/4 second and sounds very very weird
From what i can tell (looking at a couple), the sounds aren't set up to perfectly loop. We might have to do some editing to get this right.
Dean is going to look at this. His speculation is that there was padding added during the MP3 encoding process. My guess is that the original audio will need editing to be a reasonable looping sound.
I reduced the gap considerably, but it's still audible. Kevin: do you think we can release like this?
can't get to them to try it now... whenever i go to the sounds i get disconnected.
Kevin, can you test? Dean's improvement makes it significantly better.
well, er, the alarm sounds seem to be absent. and i still am unable to get in to natural sounds...
