wake Radio every 4 weeks to keep battery in good shape
Last modified: 2019-01-25 10:38:37 UTC
The wiki page says "Once the Radio is OFF, you must turn the Radio ON and allow the battery to fully charge once a month to ensure the battery keeps a charge. "This is required even when the AC power cord is connected to the Radio." Since there's a RTC inside baby, this sounds like a software opportunity. I think it should be in the core code -- if a battery is installed, make a setting option available to "Turn on monthly to preserve battery life". If chosen, make sure the wakeup RTC/microcontroller is set to turn baby on in ~28 days (and perhaps power off again if the user doesn't touch any buttons or play any music). This would mean that anyone who left their Radio plugged in to AC would not have to worry about manually turning the Radio on. Great for folks with Radios at vacation properties (not me, I wish!) that are vacant for long stretches of time.
How about the battery will be charged when the AC power cord is plugged in, even the Radio is OFF?
(In reply to comment #1) > How about the battery will be charged when the AC power cord is plugged in, > even the Radio is OFF? Unfortunately, the electronics do not permit this.
