Bugzilla – Bug 15709
Have a Tag function
Last modified: 2010-08-06 12:47:39 UTC
I just had an idea and i just wondered if it would be possible to add to the controller. If it would be possible to put a tag function on the squeezbox duet controller so that if i was listening to a song on the internet radio i could tag the song for future purchase or download. so i was thinking if you press the plus button an option comes up to tag the song and then in you main menu you have a tab called tagged music where you can see the songs you were interested in looking into. it would also be great if the tagged music would be part of the squeezebox server as well.
*** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 2433 ***
I don't see how this is a duplicate of bug 2433. What I am refering to is entirely different. I am talking about saving a song you listen to on the internet for reference later on. I am not talking about editing filenames.
fwiw, this is sort of covered by the Amazon CD store "app", if you're willing to use your shopping cart as the de facto list. I would actually say that if you could drop albums into your Amazon wishlist rather than shopping cart, this bug would be effectively resolved. It's a bit lame to use the shopping cart (their choice, not ours), so I'll reopen the bug.
I really do appreciate you reopening this bug for me. Just as an idea what would be ideal would be the ability to tag the song specifically. The problem with the amazon CD store app is that is will only tag the album as well as it is sometimes does not find the song because they do not sell that music or the internet radio station has spelled it differently. Some songs specifically in the dance genre do not even have an album. so what i would be looking for is the ability to tag the artist and song title. Basically just a copy and paste of what you see on the squeezebox controller at the top of the now playing screen. This would allow me to investigate it at later time. In addition once the song was tagged on the controller if it would add those tagged songs to the squeezebox server much like when you add a favorite radio station. Thanks
cc-ing Anandh since he has an interest in this kind of feature.
(In reply to comment #5) > cc-ing Anandh since he has an interest in this kind of feature. Im just wondering if there has been any progress on this feature. I love this device so much this is the only thing I'm truly looking for it really help me explore music on web radio
I know that this info has been CC to someone who has interest in this feature but i was just wondering the progress on it so far. I think the squeezebox duet is brilliant this is really the only feature that is truly missing as it allows you to expand your music horizons by tagging songs of interest for future purchase or download. The problem with using amazon to tag songs for later download is that it will only tag the album and not the individual song. I have also experienced many times that it doesn't even find the right album.
The honest truth is that it's not being actively worked on and probably won't be anytime soon.
