Bugzilla – Bug 15540
Display "not ready try again later" when attempting to browse music on USB drive during scan
Last modified: 2010-04-08 17:24:06 UTC
I pressed the reset button to reboot my Touch. I then immediately went to My Music, where I saw the "Connecting to ..." screen when TinySC went to access my local USB hard drive. TinySC then timed out and I saw the "Unable to ..." screen. I went to the Settings->Advanced->Squeezebox Server screen and found it was scanning and then discovering files. Suggest that instead of "Unable to ..." screen that a screen with message "Squeezebox Server busy. This will take a few minutes" with options to Try Again or Go Back to home menu. I think it would be more helpful than the "Unable to ..." screen, which doesn't explain what's going on or what to do. The user shouldn't have to go to the Squeezebox Server status screen to find out what's really going on. Firmware version 7.5.0 r8395
Correction: It's the Problem Connecting screen, not the Unable to screen. Additional thoughts: Would be simpler just to go directly to the Busy Try Again Later screen instead of seeing the Connecting to screen.
needs prioritization
Ben suggests that we could check for the presence of a scan.json file to hide the spinny.
