Bugzilla – Bug 15526
DHCP-supplied gateway cannot be overridden
Last modified: 2010-05-07 10:52:51 UTC
It is not possible to override the gateway IP address supplied by the DHCP server. I suggest that there is a reason that Windoze and real OS's always provide the possibility to do this. On my network, I am using a router (WNDR3700) as a WAP. I would prefer to let it hand out the IP addresses, but there is no way to convince it that the gateway is not its (unused) WAN section. In my case, I have a firewall that is the gateway. So if I let my WAP act as DHCP server, the SB cannot access the internet.
It's getting more and more difficult over time to stuff new code into the SB2/3 firmware. We'll hold off and see how many votes this gets before deciding to undertake it.
All new Squeezebox products are likely to be based on the SqueezePlay platform. We do not plan to implement any further enhancements to the ip3k firmware or which are targeted specifically at ip3k-based products.
