Description Jim McAtee 2005-05-17 05:50:12 UTC
Similar, but distinct from bug #1548, for the purpose of determining distinct
artist names SlimServer should drop articles (el, the, los, etc.) from artist
names. "The Grateful Dead" should be equivalent to "Grateful
Dead", "Offspring" treated the same as "The Offspring", etc.

There may be justification for making this a server configuration setting
distinct from that of "Articles to ignore when sorting artist names" under
Server Settings > Behavior, but this may not be necessary. You could probably
use the same set of articles and change the description.

As with bug #1548, display the full, mixed case string ("The Grateful Dead") in
any user interface.

This bug should be fixed automatically when 1548 is.

Vidur - did you want to reverse the change you made wrt name()/namesort() when creating a contributor?

This has been fixed in subversion change 3330 for bug 1548

As it stands - 'last one in wins' - that is, the last file with a different name will be the "display name" - with
all files articles or not will be under that name.

There are 536 bugs in the database with targets of '---' that were fixed prior to new year 2006. I am setting them to targets of 6.2.1 to keep them from showing up in my queries.
