Description Philip Meyer 2010-01-09 06:38:15 UTC
I start an internet stream via SBS.
If I stop the SBS server, the stream continues to play (Boom player).
When I restart the SBS server, playback stops.

I'm using direct streaming. The "power on resume" player player setting is "Pause at power off / Remain paused at power on". Music still stops even with "Resume at power on" selected.

With SBS server being shut down (or an interrupted WiFi connection?), the music continues to play - i.e. I haven't issued a stop/power event, so when the server comes back up, the music should continue.

On startup, SbS has no way of knowing what the player is doing. It forces it into a stopped state to get to a known state. It is not considered safe to automatically start the player in such cases.

It's annoying that the stream stops though. If this is the case, perhaps the stream should stop when SBS is shut down, or the player should automatically connect to another server and continue playback (eg. switch to MySB.com).

If it is not currently possible for SBS to know that a player is playing a direct stream when it starts up, then perhaps that needs to be fixed?

Surely it is possible to for a player to know it is playing something, and therefore can report its status when it gets a connection to SBS?

Does the player know the difference between SBS being shut down and SBS temporarily disapearing from the network?
