Description Atlr Hogberg 2010-01-05 12:31:15 UTC
I use one of my two SB Boom players as my bedside companion, waking me up (usually) to my favorite local radio station.

However - at times there seems to be some issue with the radio stream itself, with the Boom display stopping at "buffering ... 2%" or similar.

The display hangs in this state - there is no progress.

When, or rather if, I wake up anyway - it is easy to switch to another radio station - which plays along just as expected, the wanted local station shows the same issue still, also when trying to select it manually.

So - a bug-fix suggestion and a question:

1) How about adding a "sound playing" detect in the Alarm-program, making sure that the Boom is actually making some sort of sound if the radio stream does not produce any sound (or it is not working). This works if network is down, so why not extend functionality?

2) How do I find out what is the issue with my local station? Any logging feature I might run or turn on? The station is of course OK when I try it now (you would not believe anything else, I presume... Murphy's law and all that). Anyway the preferred radio stream is: mms://straumr.nrk.no/nrk_radio_ndro_p1_h

I've had the same problem with the BBC Radio 4 stream.

See http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=79903

There is a similar thread on the Sonos forum http://forums.sonos.com/showthread.php?t=17241 with some technical details about stream problems. Although Sonos will still play some sound to make sure you wake up.
