Description Joerg Schwieder 2010-01-02 16:32:47 UTC
When I play AAC files on my Touch (r8271) some won't play at al and inevitably, after a few tracks, the whole Touch reboots.
I'll attach a sample file that reproducibly does not play (it plays for around 1s and then falls silent). Works fine on iPod or when using server side transcoding (ubuntu).

Sample file

This one doesn't play either and recently caused a crash when I tried to play it.
Comment 4 Alan Young 2010-01-04 06:18:25 UTC
Joerg, how were those sample files created?
Comment 5 Joerg Schwieder 2010-01-04 06:20:56 UTC
No idea :)
They are purchases from the iTunes store.
Comment 6 Alan Young 2010-01-04 08:27:18 UTC
Virgilio, can you say if these sample files work with your decoder?
Comment 7 Chris Owens 2010-01-04 16:00:17 UTC
Changing priorities due to management guidance.

I'm attending CES and Manuel is on holidays until the 10th. Let me see what I can do...
I'll come back as soon as I can.

We decoded the file Smile.m4a with our AAC decoder on a Beagleboard
RESULT: Decodes properly!

We copied the file Smile.m4a on an USB-Stick and plug it into the Squeezebox-Touch. We could play the file while navigating via the touchscreen to the player.
RESULT: Decodes properly and the SB-Touch did not reboot at all (like mentioned below)
HINT: below there is mentioned a release number (r8271); the SB-Touch we use
had a FW version "7.5.0 r8143". We will make an update and try the same again.
Comment 10 Joerg Schwieder 2010-01-13 09:37:43 UTC
Smile is the one that works.
Please try the other two!
Comment 11 Virgilio Bacigalupo 2010-01-13 09:40:20 UTC
I see. We will do so.
Comment 12 Joerg Schwieder 2010-01-13 09:43:04 UTC
Out of interest: Is this the HD-AAC codec?
Comment 13 Virgilio Bacigalupo 2010-01-13 09:47:22 UTC
No, it is about the AAC decoder.
Comment 14 Joerg Schwieder 2010-01-13 09:52:05 UTC
Sorry, I wasn't referring to the bug.
Wanted to ask whether the codec you are using/testing is the one that also supports HD-AAC.

Should have made a few more words :)
Comment 15 Virgilio Bacigalupo 2010-01-14 07:01:07 UTC
No. It is a different code.
We succesfully decoded the attached files with our decoder running on the BB. Is there anything else we can do to help you on this?
Have you been able to decode the files with Sq. Radio?
