Description Douglas 2009-12-30 11:30:14 UTC
TWIMC,

I am visually impaired and was very surprised to see the Squeezebox Radio, M/N: X-R0001, did not have ANY accessibility options aka. universal access settings. I'm focusing primarily on the display settings. The following is a list of firmware suggestions to add to this product:

*ability to increase font sizes/types (this may require having two lines for menu items or radio station call letters, numbers, and description)
*ability to set display for different background colors and text colors (I like to use high contrast white text on a black background)
*ability to zoom in and out while keeping displayed text in a columnar format (there is a term for this that is used for eReader devices that escapes me)
*also consider adding 'voice over'; this would speak highlighted items before pressing the enter knob (for an excellent example of voice over please refer to the latest iPod Touch or iPhone and look under 'universal access'
*this next one will probably require a hardware update: voice recognition to activate all the features and menus of the Squeezebox Radio

I hope you can add these as it would help the 30+ million of us with vision issues, not to mention all the millions of baby boomers with soon to be fading eyesight.

Sincerely,

Douglas B. Kapp

PS: Other than the above, a great piece of equipment!
