Description dovienya 2009-12-29 19:12:40 UTC
i have "Power On Resume" set to "Stop at power off / Reset playlist at power on." with an earlier version of squeezecenter this worked as described. however, after an upgrade a while ago it will RESTART playlist at power on (sorry, don't remember which was the last working version).

this was also noted by IMGrant in http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=62956

"earlier version of SC" - do you remember which version this was? 7.3 or later? Earlier?

Alan - might this be related to new streaming?

It could be but there was no intention or knowing breaking of this.
Comment 3 dovienya 2010-02-04 09:18:11 UTC
i'm not going to able to pinpoint it, unfortunately. sorry, i knew i shoulda logged the ticket when it happened.

i _believe_ it broke in the 7.3 series during a point upgrade. i know it was not working as of 7.3.3, and i don't think it was working in 7.3.2. i bought my squeezebox on November 18, 2008 and iirc i was only using the 7.2 series for a short while. so i'd put the breakage at an early 7.3 release.

Ok, let's say I have a playlist with 20 tracks. Then I power off the device while it was playing track no. 12. After powering it up again, what would you expect it to do?

Mine is playing track no. 1 from my playlist. Isn't this what you're expecting?
Comment 5 Michael Herger 2010-02-05 05:50:27 UTC
Heh... after reading that thread you mentioned I now understand. So "Reset" should actually wipe the playlist?

Fixed Bug: 15382
Description: tell the playlist jump command not to start the playback. There's a second step taking care of restarting playback if needed.

looks like you already tracked this down and fixed it but yes, the previous/expected behavior was that when "reset" was selected the playlist was emptied.

thank you!

i just upgraded to 7.5.0 and the behavior is still not what it was in the earlier releases.

with "Power On Resume" set to "Stop at power off / Reset playlist at power
on." the original / expected behavior (as discussed earlier in this thread) is that the playlist would be cleared at power on. after upgrading, i verified that i am running with the "Reset playlist" option. the playlist jumps to the first track on power on, but does not get wiped as it originally did / should.

I traced that code back to 7.0 (may 2008) and "Reset" has always been "reset playlist to first track", but not "wipe playlist". My earlier comment (or rather question) #5 was misleading.

We don't think that it ever worked this way (clear playlist) but even if it did, the current design decision is that Reset should not clear the playlist but simply set the current track to the first in the playlist and not start playing.

This bug has been marked fixed in a released version of Squeezebox Server or the accompanying firmware or mysqueezebox.com release.
