Bugzilla – Bug 15324
APE Tags don't show genre
Last modified: 2010-04-08 17:24:52 UTC
I'm running Ubuntu 9.10 with Squeezebox Server 7.4.1. When I scan the library, my APE files end up showing "No Genre". If I convert the files to FLAC and rescan, the converted files show the correct genre. Thanks, Pete
Can you attach a small file that shows the problem?
Created attachment 6484 [details] APE music file I actually converted my library to FLAC to get around the bug. I've attached a music file converted from FLAC back to APE using J. River Media Center. The genre tag shows up in the APE file when played in JRMC, but shows as "No Genre" on my SB3 and in Squeezebox Server V7.4.1 - r28947. I'm running SB Server on Ubuntu 9.10. Please let me know if I can provide any other details. Thanks, Pete
Thanks, looks like an Audio::Scan bug. No tags are being read from this file. I'll get right on it.

This file has an APEv2 tag with a footer but no header, which is against the spec. Unfortunately it seems several tag readers do try and support this, so I guess we will have to do the same.
== Auto-comment from SVN commit #566 to the repo by agrundman == == https://svn.slimdevices.com/?view=revision&revision=566 == Fixed bug 15324, read APEv2 tags without a header, fix reading of binary tag data and cover art
This is fixed in 7.5.0, not 7.4.2.
This bug has been marked fixed in a released version of Squeezebox Server or the accompanying firmware or mysqueezebox.com release. If you are still seeing this issue, please let us know!
