Description Julius Dauz 2009-12-17 15:27:38 UTC
A customer reported this issue and I've discussed this with Steven and he advised me to file a bug.

The cusotmer is streaming Flac files from a ReadyNAS NV with SBS 7.4.1 to a Squeezebox 1. Prior to updating this issue never occured although the customer is unaware of the version he had installed before.

Customer runnning latest RNas FW, 4.1.6.

Attached is the latest transcoder log from the customer.

Log with entries for buffer fullness

This log has entries that show buffer fullness and also show the stream being paused.

Uh yeah, so what is the actual issue the customer is seeing? :)

The issue is frequent audio dropouts caused by rebuffering.

That's not a big surprise. The ReadyNAS CPU doesn't really have the juice to do transcoding like this.

That's nonsense! It didn't have those problems in the past. During one of the software version changes (don't know which one) this problem surfaced. Now I can't go back.

Julius knows that transcoding is iffy on a ReadyNAS far better than I do.

Nonetheless, I'll try to find time to have a look at it. If some other users were to vote for this bug, it might reach a higher priority.

I should have mentioned in my other reply that this problem occurs even when I use my WinXP computer hosting the server.
