Description Kevin Pearsall 2005-05-12 11:59:15 UTC
Customer reported:
Slim server 6.02
Soft Squeeze 2.0b8

I have a question regarding the ability of the
Slim Server to work on
networks that have a large RTT, I use a
Satellite network and the
RTT can vary from 700 milliseconds to 1.4 Seconds.

The slim server appears to stop send packets and
then restart, is
there a way I can alter the setting to compensate
for the Large RTT.

----------------------

Yes I am, the Audio will play for about 1 second and
drop out for about 4 or 5 seconds before playing
again.

When I connect them directly together they work fine.
I originally thought the Slim server sent a Mcast
stream to SoftSqueeze, but i do see return packets
after every 3 or 4 packets sent by the server, also
the packets appear to be unicast.

I think the problem is with the Slimserver expecting
return packets at frequent intervals and with out
these packets the slim server stops transmitting, I
was wondering if Slim server has any setting where I
can increase a window size of unacknowledged packets.
Or prevent Slim server from terminating transmission.
-----------------------------

need a bigger tcp window in SoftSqueeze, possibly?

Marking items that aren't going to be addressed immediately in 6.1 as future. Please update if this is in
error or the bug has already been addressed.

I have added an option in Softsqueeze 2.2 that allows the tcp window size to be set.
