Bugzilla – Bug 15289
playback skips badly at the start of Ogg Vorbis files
Last modified: 2011-11-06 23:22:12 UTC
I'm running server 7.4.2 - r29410 on Ubuntu. SB3 has worked flawlessly for years. New SB radio skips badly when commencing playback of most of the Ogg Vorbis files in my collection. Radio claims firmware version 7.4.1-r7915. I can post example files if that helps, but the problem is utterly pervasive and I suspect easy to reproduce. Most of my library is around 192k bps nominal, and most of my tracks skip for several seconds when starting.
I should add that the skipping is scratchy and noisy -- not simply audio dropouts.
New information: I noticed that during the worst of the skipping, the LCD on the radio sometimes displays "rebuffering". I hadn't noticed this previously, since I was controlling it via the SBS web interface.
Owen, are you doing any syncing? I was also wondering if you are doing server side decoding? Perhaps a log with the Transcoder option selected might help too.
Negative on the syncing, and also negative for server-side decoding unless it comes configured that way by default, but I would assume the radio would decode Vorbis natively. FWIW, my SB3 I'm looking at the logging page in SBS and it isn't totally obvious how to turn on what you want. If you would kindly give me minimal guidance, I can collect a log and post it. Just in case, I am posting some tracks that expose the problem here: http://owen.emry.us/sb_radio_skip/ To reproduce, queue them all up, start playing one, and then once audio starts, switch to another track. I get skips more than a third of the time.
Unassigned bugs cannot have a priority.
