Description Magne 2009-12-07 15:46:05 UTC
I am not able to get one step back in menues, have to start from main menu each time. Neither can I choose to go back to previous song. When I did the factory-test of the buttons, all the three to the left were filled when I pressed one of them. This happened when I upgraded to the 7.4.1 r7915 version, so I don't think it is a hardware failure. I still get the message every time I turn the controller on that the firmware has been updated to the 7.4 version. Do you have any suggestions?

Please do a Factory Reset on you controller. Remove the battery, press and hold the + key, re-insert the battery.

it should boot up to the Language Selection screen. If that does not work (because the key is broken) then you should boot up normal to the Home menu.

If you get the language selection screen, press and hold the BACK arrow until you get to the Firmware Setup menu. Goto settings > advanced > factory test > keypad: do you still see the left most buttons pressed? or is it OK now.

IF you boot up normally, then try the following
Remove the battery, press and hold the Volume UP button, insert the battery. Wait for the unit to boot, then release the volume up button. Goto settings > advanced > factory test > keypad: do you still see the left most buttons pressed? or is it OK now.

If you are still having issue after those 2 tests, please contact support for further diagnostic tests.

Thanks, but none of those had any effect. Still same problem. Do you think it is a hardware failure? Strange that it happened exactly when I updated the firmware to the 7.4.1 r7915. OK, I will try the Support form.
Regards,
Magne

Please check the firmware version you are on now, Settings > advanced > about.

You should be on the previous firmware version (if the 2nd step holding VOL up during boot) worked.

Still on 7.4.1 r7915. I also tried the factory reset, but still the same issue.
Comment 5 James Richardson 2009-12-09 07:46:28 UTC
OK, IMHO it is a Hardware issue, with the happy coincidence of happening when you upgraded. I will have someone from Support contact you for a replacement. I would like to get this unit into the hands of QA for advanced failure analysis.

Julius: can you please contact the customer and arrange for an exchange.
