Description Julius Dauz 2009-11-25 09:45:55 UTC
On the Advanced > File Types page there is a couple of items that can cause a user to become misconstrued with the capabilities of a ReadyNAS.

There are "active" settings for WMA Lossless and Pro that allow you to set WMA Lossless and Pro to be either streamed Natively or have the option disabled.

One can come to the conclusion that you CAN stream these formats from a ReadyNAS, but its the exact opposite.

The point is that it works for any player that has native support for either/both of those formats. I'm not sure if fab4 will support pro, but I think that Baby supports lossless.
Comment 2 Alan Young 2009-11-25 11:14:56 UTC
I seem to be mistaken. It seems that neither Baby nor Fab4 support either WMA Lossless or WMAPro at the moment.

However, the point still stands. SqueezePlay players can declare dynamically which formats they support. SbS 7.4 can support native streaming to such players for WMA Lossless and WMAPro, if the player declares such support.

The ReadyNAS configuration show that those formats can either be disabled, or enabled for players that support them natively. The same applies to any other format, such as FLAC. If one was to configure SbS so that only native streaming of FLAC was permitted, then players that do not support that format natively (SliMP3, SB1) would still not be able to play such files.

We need to redesign that screen so that it correctly displays this information, and then implement the new design.

Also we need to implement WMA. We will not implement WMA lossless.

Alan to comment out the WMA lossless from the convert.conf, then assign to Steven for his ideas on how to change the UI. Steven to then talk to... Noah? Matt Weldon? about how the screen should look.

Comment out native streaming in convert.conf for these types.
