Description kmr 2009-11-22 20:36:34 UTC
I have a WPA2 using AES wireless-G network. When the Radio is rebooted, it does not reconnect with my wireless network. If I go into the networking menu on the Radio and choose my network, it reconnects successfully (takes about 20 seconds or so). This happened when I first set up the Radio: I entered in my SSID and passphrase, it connected, it downloaded and applied a firmware update, rebooted, and wouldn't connect over a period of several minutes. I eventually figured out how to get to the networking menu and successfully connected. Originally, I had my SSID hidden, but unhiding it makes no difference. My wireless router is a Linksys WRT160Nv2, firmware v2.0.02 build 015May 26, 2009. I started a thread on the forums (http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=71568); this other thread seems like it may be the same bug (http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=71588).

This bug is not a showstopper for me, but is fairly inconvenient.

QA to investigate Hidden SSID during firmware update

Just did a test:
(1) With my network SSID not hidden, I rebooted the Radio. It came up, the wireless icon was WHITE (indicating it was connected), but I couldn't get to my server or to mysb. I then went to the network settings menu, selected my wireless network, connected, and everything worked just fine. The wireless icon stayed WHITE the whole time.

(2) I did a factory reset of the Radio. It rebooted, came up, and started the network setup. It saw my network just fine. I selected my network, entered in my passphrase, and it connected just fine. I verified everything was working OK, then I powered the radio fully off, waited a minute, then powered back on. Radio rebooted, and connected immediately to my wireless network; my server and mysb were both immediately available.

Seems to indicate that this problem only occurs when setting up with a hidden SSID. Should be easy to duplicate.

This seems to work on our other routers. QA to acquire a Linksys WRT160Nv2.

Maybe related to this one: bug 13259

Moving lower-priority bugs to next target

I think I've hit the same bug. I was seeing the same behavior from the first time I set up networking (my SSID is hidden). Every time I rebooted radio I had to reconnect to network manually trough setup menu. I didn't know it was a bug but then It seemed strange to me as I never saw the same behavior on Boom which I also own.

I've made several firmware updates during time but the issue was still there and I had to reconnect manually to my AP.

I also tried to change SSID from hidden to visible but nothing change.

Today I connected to Radio via SSH and was investigating a bit in /etc/ and found out that /etc/network/interface file was containing this line:

auto eth1=shamotd

while my SSID name is shamot
I tried to change this from "shamotd" to "shamot" and rebooted Radio and voila - Radio reconnects to my SSID automatically.

I think something wrote the misspelled SSID name to this file and I think there isn't a simple method later to change this via standard Radio menu.

I would be expecting Radio to change this entry every time I select the proper WIFI AP to connect to.
