Bugzilla – Bug 15121
Duet Receiver consistently going blue light and not able to connect to network
Last modified: 2011-04-28 10:52:58 UTC
This has been extremely frustrating as i had connectivity issues for over a year. then it stabilized for about 5 months, then when 4.0 came out it has consistently gone to blue light and lost wireless connection when put to sleep or even other things like going to my library. Tech support has not been able to figure it out. they always think it is my setup but it was working totally stable until 4.0. I am on 4.1 now and not working. I have two other duet sets - each has own controller. they are hard wired and do not have this problem.
Hi Daniel Sorry to hear about your trouble. Some clarification, please: - If you say 4.0 I guess you mean 7.4.0 (and 4.1 would be 7.4.1)? - By 'hard wired' you mean this two Receivers are using ethernet? Could you give a bit more information about your setup for the Duet (Receiver) not working properly? - What is the make, model and firmware revision of your wireless router the Receiver and Controller are connected to? - If the Receiver is stuck on blue, does it help to power cycle it? - Does it help if you change the location / orientation of your Receiver? - Is the PC running Squeezebox Server using static IP or DHCP? - The two Recievers working ok, are they also connected to this same router? Thanks Felix P.S. A blue light indicates it has connected to the network and is trying to connect to your server (or mysqueezebox.com). Felix, a BIG thank you for your help. I have not been able to resolve with tech support. You are correct in your Clarification questions. I meant 7.4.0 Hard wired meant Ethernet cable wired. I have a Linksys WRT54G with DD-WRT v24 sp2 firmware dated July 2009. This router has been very stable. And my duet system had been totally stable on the software prior to 7.4.0 for like 6 months (approx). The bedroom duet which is the only one connected wirelessly via an Access Point. The receiver goes to Blue on nearly every change (putting to sleep or changing to MP3s, etc). When I power cycle it it goes back to red or if i press it and hold it it also goes to red. I have not tried changing locations as it is 20 feet with no obstructions from the Access Point. And has a strong siignal. I run DHCP and use Comcast as my ISP with a very strong 10-20 Mbps download speed. My other two Duets are Ethernet connected to the same router. My primary puzzlement is how it had been working stably for 6 months prior to the 7.4.0 update and has not worked well since. No other changes. Thanks kindly, Daniel Daniel B. Hi Daniel Thanks for all the information. Unfortunately wireless can be a very stubborn thing to figure out. I am not ruling out that something that has changed from one release to the other made things worse in your setup, but it could also be that some of your neighbors got a new wireless router or changed the wireless channel. Or in other words _your_ own wireless setup has not changed but the wireless world around you. Did you ever try to check what channels are used by your neighbors wireless routers with the help of your PCs wireless software doing a scan? It might already help if you choose a different wireless channel yourself. You said: "When I power cycle it it goes back to red or if i press it and hold it it also goes to red." What happens if you just let it sit? Does it stay on red? If you only power cycle it it should reconnect to your wireless router and show that by changing colors again. Just for a test would it be possible to hook up the problematic Duet the same way the other working two are setup to see if it is a hardware issue? Thanks Felix
(In reply to comment #3) Felix, Thanks. My laptop (which I tested in wireless mode, appears to function perfectly and stably and fast. The light is not even coming on today (not coming out of sleep). So I will do some more experimenting so I am clearer on the symptoms. Anyway, I will test it in Ethernet cable mode (in another room) and see how that does as you suggest. Daniel
as someone using slim since 2004, my exp has been ip3k products are totally unreliable via DHCP. the answer for me has been to use static ip settings instead. not easy to do on the SBR unfortunately, requires either turning off dhcp on the router (i think) or using net-udap or a similar thing, like android squeeze config.
