Description Mickey Gee 2009-11-02 17:28:42 UTC
I'm using firmware 7.5.0 r7984 to scan my 8K music library of flac and MP3 files. The tracks are in a directory in the root of the USB drive, and is named "Music". I've tried many ways to successfully scan this library, but to no avail.

I do not know what the requirements are for putting your tracks onto a USB drive or SD card. How do I know it's on the drive/card correctly? What should I be looking for to correct it?

Alan mentioned that the scanner would scan the entire drive, but he also mentioned that it would scan the first item in the drive's root directory.

Let's have a clear plan on what are requirements are for this drive. That includes required directory and file hierarchy (if any), and how much free space is required on the drive.

Andy: isn't this something you are working on already?
Comment 2 Andy Grundman 2009-11-02 17:40:35 UTC
TinySC scans the entire drive, there is no UI for changing this.

What happens when there are both a USB drive and SD card present? Are they two different libraries, or does TinySC use the USB drive over the SD card in that case?
Comment 4 Alan Young 2009-11-05 22:15:08 UTC
Yes, it uses the first found USB device in preference.

So what is the action left on this bug? Make sure it's in the documentation somewhere? Why is this still assigned to Andy?
Comment 6 Mickey Gee 2009-12-01 17:26:21 UTC
Not sure why it's still on Andy's plate.

The current algorithm, AFAIK, is:

- Scan the first found USB drive. Look for all tracks on that drive.
- If USB hub plugged into Touch, and hub has multiple drives, then only the first drive found will be scanned. Not sure how Linux scans the USB bus and orders the drives. We will not support more than one USB drive.
- Scan SC card found in slt. Look for all tracks on that drive.

I will document this in the release notes and close out this bug.

This bug has been marked fixed in a released version of Squeezebox Server or the accompanying firmware or mysqueezebox.com release.
